FRIENDS
|
“Friends are the family you choose for yourself.” It’s an insightful quote from an unknown source. I’m convinced that a large part of the church life is built around friendships. God has made us social creatures who want and need companionship and community. People come to church looking to meet that very real felt need.
At the core of that interpersonal design is the “made-in-God’s-image” imprint of our Creator. Within the Godhead, the Trinity enjoys a fellowship that He has “genetically” reproduced in the sons and daughters of Adam.
As Bible-taught Christians, we understand that the essence of true friendship can only be found in a relationship with God through his Son (I John 1:7). Do you have some unsaved friends (neighbors, co-workers, relatives) that you would like to become believing friends? God may very well use their desire for a close relationship with you to show them their need for a close relationship with Him.
“Friend Day” is an intentional outreach effort of our church to provide for you the perfect venue to bring your unbelieving friends into an atmosphere where they can absorb the Gospel. I encourage you to invite them to the service this Sunday, November 1, and then take them out to eat. Use the opportunity to introduce conversation about their relationship with Christ. Remember, Jesus is the “Friend that sticks closer than a brother!”
